Led by Donkeys | Adventures in Art, Activism and Accountability
Sun 24 Nov 2024 | 8:00pm – 9:00pm
Led By Donkeys are back!
In 2019 Led By Donkey’s took the Cambridge Union by storm, and received several standing ovations. It was an event that proved to be a most memorable occasion capturing the post-Brexit mood. We are delighted to have them back to hear their views on the ever changing political landscape.
Speaking truth to power, the campaigners will remind us of how the corruption and incompetence of the previous government over the last five years led to their epic loss at the general election. Led By Donkeys will discuss their new book, Adventures in Art, Activism and Accountability, which demonstrates how they continue to hold the powerful to account and provides a vital reminder of the importance of direct action in turbulent times.
This event will also be available to watch via Livestream.
About the Book
Their brilliant new book showcases the guerilla resistance of the inimitable political accountability collective – Led By Donkeys – and chronicles the true stories behind their activism against populist politics and petty nationalism between 2019 and 2024. Major moments that triggered their high-profile interventions during these years include the Covid crisis, Boris Johnson’s battles with truth and decency, Liz Truss’s battles with maths and markets, the war in Ukraine, the climate crisis we are sleepwalking into, and more.
