Glentrool is set within the Galloway Forest and forms part of the UNESCO Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere. It is renowned for its tranquillity, unspoilt natural surroundings, and dark night skies. The village is the only settlement located within the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park, one of the best places in the UK for stargazing.
The area is centred around outdoor activities and nature. Visitors come to enjoy:
