Project for Children affected by cancer

Supported by: Tesco Community Grants Scheme

This project will improve the quality of life for children with a cancer diagnosis and young carers who care for a family member with cancer in Suffolk and Norfolk. We will provide them with gifts, experiences and essential items focussing on rest, recuperation, wellbeing and positive memory building. This will also relieve the financial pressure on the wider family as 91% of people diagnosed with cancer live in cancer poverty. Support will include the provision of games, toys, clothes, toiletries, magazines, arts and crafts, gift bundles, special family days, holidays, restaurant meals, tickets to attractions and more.

We have now received support from the Private Fund – PFF through Suffolk Community Foundation to help us scale up this project in Suffolk.

With their funding we aim to support at least 500 children affected by cancer by providing at least £15,000 worth of gifts, experiences and essential items. This would give children affected by cancer in Suffolk the opportunity to be prioritised for support for provision including tickets to attractions, special days out and cottage holidays both in Suffolk and across the rest of the UK.
