Parkdean Manor Park are delighted to be able to support a fantastic charity, ‘Something To Look Forward To’, which was set up by a couple from Cambridge, in 2015, following a terminal breast cancer diagnosis.
The charity supports people affected by cancer and cancer poverty by providing gifts and experiences donated by individuals and companies.
In April 2022 the charity purchased a static caravan in Manor Park and they now grant holidays to families affected by breast cancer each week so families can break from the world of cancer and create lasting positive memories.
We are now looking for people who would be willing to donate a break in their holiday home during out of season periods when your caravan would often be un-booked.
Service charges and all administration fees would be covered by the beneficiary.
Thinking of donating a short break to your holiday home?
Hear what a difference a break in a holiday home means to families affected by cancer
Our time in the caravan gave us a chance to be a family again, away from the strains of home. We hadn’t had a holiday together for a long time and it was time to start the new life we had been forced to put on hold because of cancer.
It was a very generous gift and gave us some much needed space away as a couple from the challenges surrounding diagnosis, treatment and the new ‘normal’ that follows without adding financial pressures. It also gave us the opportunity to start creating new memories together.
Just wanted to send sincere and heartfelt thanks for our week away in your caravan. It has boosted our spirits and revived us, and we are looking forward with a lighter spring in our steps.

Why did you choose to donate?
It’s an easy way to support a cause I care about deeply. Everyone has their own experience of a loved one being affected by cancer, and this is a simple and hassle free way of giving something to families who need it.
How easy was the process?
Very easy – it operated like any other booking we would make ourselves. We agreed a weekend, blocked out the dates, the guests paid for the changeovers, we sent out the information pack and that was it. Otherwise it went the same as any other booking normally does.
How did knowing you were helping a family affected by cancer create memories make you feel?
It felt like for very little effort on our part it could make a huge difference to the lives of others – so it felt great!
Why would you encourage other caravan owners to donate?
For those of us fortunate enough to own a caravan, it feels like an easy and straightforward way to make a big difference to families who may not otherwise have the opportunity to get away, and who need it more than most.
How will it all work?
Gift donations of holidays and short breaks are one of our ‘Main’ gifts and they are allocated to the neediest of our service users and we are extremely grateful for these donations.
These are balloted gifts and are not allocated on a first come first served basis to ensure we reach a couple or family who will benefit the most from the experience.
